History of the MCAS Beaufort Air Show
The Marine Corps Air Station has an interesting and notable history. The Naval Air Station Beaufort was established in 1943 and was used for advanced training exercises for anti-submarine patrols during World War II. It was deactivated for almost 10 years, but later became the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort (MCAS Beaufort). Today, MCAS Beaufort covers more than 12,000 acres in Beaufort County, SC, and Mcintosh County, GA. You can read more about the history of the MCAS Beaufort Air Show here.
Although there won’t be an MCAS Beaufort Air Show in 2018, you can still catch some Lowcountry naval aviation in the meantime! To see an air show in South Carolina in 2018, visit the MILAVIA air show calendar page.
